Nowaday, women have a balance relationship with men. They can make money, even they can make more money than men. With an economy that is still struggling, some businesses are having a hard time, as well as the people who run them. However, there are those who find, even in economic hard times, ways to keep their business going strong and rise to the top. While many think that men run the business world, there are many women who have made great strides for themselves and their companies. Here are the top 5 business women:

Irene Rosenfeld from Kraft Foods. Rosenfeld is currently the chairwoman and CEO of Kraft, she has had at least 25 years experience in the food and beverage industry. In 2004, Rosenfeld had worked for PepsiCo, and was appointed Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of Frito-Lay and focused on promoting nutritious, healthy products. In 2008, she was in 6th place on The Wall Street Journal’s “50 women to Watch” list, and now in 2011 takes the number 1 spot in Fortune’s annual ranking of America’s leading businesswomen.

The number 2 spot goes to Indra Nooyi at PepsiCo. Nooyi is the CEO and Chairman and has been at PepsiCo since 1994 and in 2001 she was named president and CFO. Since then she has raised the company’s annual revenues at least 72%, and doubled the net worth to about $5.6 billion in 2006. In 2003, Forbes named her the third most powerful woman in 2008.

Patricia Woertz has the number 3 spot as chairman, CEO, and president of Archer Daniels Midland. In 2006, Woertz became the CEO of ADM after beating out four other competitors. She was once the Executive Vice President of Chevron Corporation, but eventually left seeking a chance to pursue CEO jobs and opportunities. In Fortune 500′s list of top CEO’s, Woertz came in at number 93 in 2009, but in 2010, she was ranked the third most powerful women by Fortune magazine, and has kept her spot for 2011.

DuPont’s chairman and CEO, Ellen Kullman, has the number 4 spot of the 50 Most Powerful Women list. Kullman’s career at DuPont started in 1988 as a marketing manager, and was appointed CEO in 2009. She is the first woman to lead the company since they started 206 years ago in 1802. Kullman has moved up a spot on the list since she was named the 5th most powerful woman in both 2009 and 2010.

The 5th most powerful woman of 2011 is Angela Braly. Braly is the president and chief executive officer for a health care company, WellPoint, Incorporated, she assumed these positions in 2007. Before she worked at WellPoint, in 2003 she was the President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield. Forbes listed Barly as the 8th most powerful woman in 2009, but has since then made her way up to 5th place in Fortune’s.

Are you a woman over 50? And you still want make money to share the heavy job with your husband or your child? If so, you may feel like the chance for starting a new career has passed you by, especially if you have taken time out to bring up a family. This doesn’t have to be the case with an online money-making home business. Making money online comes with a huge advantage– you will never need to be interviewed by someone half of your age and you can use your valuable life experience and knowledge to make a good income on the internet.

Profiting From Your Life Experience

You cannot have come this far in your life without gaining some experience in an area that other people will be keen to learn about. If you are a mom you will have learned all kinds of things that new parents will want to know. Maybe you home-schooled your children or helped out with their school events and fundraising. Perhaps you are a great cook and could pass on your recipes. Have you participated in any sports or activities recently or in the past? Possibly you are an artist, amateur photographer, or make craft items as a hobby. These are all things that people search for information about every day.

Revenue Sharing Websites

One way of turning your knowledge and experiences into a money-making home based business is by writing short articles for revenue sharing sites. There are several types of these websites on the internet that will allow you to publish your writing, how-to articles, recipes, hints and tips. The most basic type of these revenue sharing sites will just publish your articles, add AdSense advertisements and then share the advertising income with you.

There are some websites that provide additional money-making potential by allowing in addition to the AdSense, advertising on your site with products (i.e. amazon, e-bay) relating to your article topic.

The vast majority of revenue sharing sites do require you to have your own Google AdSense account. Although most people qualify for this account without any problems, if at first you do not qualify there is an alternative. A revenue sharing site where you do not need any accounts of your own other than a PayPal account, is Squidoo. This may be the easiest place to start your online money-making efforts and can also be extremely profitable.

Once you have gained some experience and skills with revenue sharing sites you may want to move on to other online money-making home based business ideas such as building your own self-hosted websites, drop-shipping, affiliate marketing or another of the many possibilities. Just remember to do some research before you get started and you could find yourself with a profitable new career, even if you are over 50.

Shopping service: This is a simple, low cost start-up business and would be perfect for stay-at-home moms. In this business you get paid for reminding people of important dates in their lives, like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, graduations, etc. You can shop for gifts appropriate to the occasion. Anyone with a little flair and fashion sense can make this into a fun and creative business by applying your flair and fashion sense to your gift purchases. Tailor your gifts to your clients and your business will grow. Women with a background in retail can really go to town with this business. Start small by helping friends and family and branch out from there. Remind people through email or phone calls.

+ Computer, answering machine, fax, separate phone line, billing software, scheduling and management software, filing system. Best customers: Business executives, working couples, business offices and just about anyone who’s busy. Other reminder services: Wake up calls, medical appointments, motivational reminders

Reunion planning: In this business you’ll plan get-togethers for high schools, colleges, families or any of countless groups, the sky’s the limit. Most people don’t have time to plan these events themselves anymore, so planning services have sprung up to fill this need; you’ll plan all the events leading up to the day of the reunion, including finding classmates, mailing invitations, hiring entertainment, setting up a location and making the necessary reservations. Use your organizational and research skills to make a go of this business.

+ Computer, answering machine, event planning software, filing system. Best Customers: Large families, military units, high school and college class members

Business writing :This is a business whose markets are endless. Wherever you look, you’ll find people who need your services. Just think about it-corporations need manuals written, they need annual reports, newsletters, press releases, sales letters, to name a few. Non-profit companies and organizations need things like promotional and fund-raising articles and literature of all kinds. The list of businesses that need your help is endless; the key is finding your niche.

+ Computer, printer, separate business phone line, fax, business cards, suitable place to meet with clients unless you travel to them, portfolio of your work.

Tips: Network, network, network. Give your business cards out to as many people as you can when you’re first getting started. Take on volunteer projects to get your name out there. Books you should get: Writer’s Market

Plant maintenance service: This business is important because plants help us all breathe better because they filter out pollutants, plants also beautify the spaces where we live. Business offices of all kinds invest lots of money in plants and they’ll pay you to maintain them.

+ Watering devices, ladders of various heights, pruning equipment, fertilizer, billing and filing systems, maintenance contracts, business telephone, answering machine.

Furniture art: This business is not one you might think of right off the bat, but it is a recycling job. You decorate old or used furniture with original art. To find the furniture to decorate, either use your own or visit garage sales, flea markets, or your own garage. Even if you aren’t an artist you can use stencils that make you look like you are, and you’ll be reviving stuff that would end up in the land fill, thus helping save our planet.

+ Refinishing supplies, paints, brushes, rags, good well-ventilated work space. Develop your eye for good used furniture when you visit yard sales, bargain down the price if you think it’s too high, once you get it home give it a good cleaning and start to work on it.

Recently, while doing some research on traffic generation, I came across the name Rachel Long. She seemed popular but since I’ve never heard of her until now I decided to find out what made her so popular in the internet marketing arena.

Turns out Ms Rachel Long has been very successful at recruiting people in various MLM programs using internet marketing techniques and made a lot of money with one program in particular. She also had her own system as well for doing what she did.

But it was one specific statement that she apparently used to describe herself which made me dig deeper. She referred to herself on one of her websites and elsewhere as “the undisputed queen of internet marketing.”

Family-friendly benefits and programs that help keep working moms’ careers on track have mored forward in the 25 years since the launch of Working Mother’s first Best Companies list. Now Working Mother 100 Best Companies offer programs that help all employees with their struggles to gain some work-life balance. Here’s what we have found.

Twenty-five years ago, Working Mother made a bold decision to launch our first Best Companies initiative. The magazine was six years old, covering the immense influx of women into the workforce at the exact moment that American businesses were trying to reinvent themselves to survive yet more economic turmoil. That’s when we challenged companies to address the unique needs of working mothers. Today, we celebrate our winners’ continued commitment to their employees through an ever-increasing array of family-friendly benefits.

The new class of Working Mother 100 Best Companies sets the bar higher than ever before, each one offering a menu of benefits including formal and informal flexibility–with flextime, telecommuting and temporary part-time work options, to name only a few.

Showing just how well these companies continue to respond to the needs of working mothers at all stages of their lives, all winners also provide private lactation rooms as well as help finding elder-care services. We congratulate two companies that have been on our list from the beginning: IBM and Johnson & Johnson. As we celebrate the silver anniversary of the Working Mother 100 Best Companies, we look forward to another 25 years of celebrating businesses that give working moms the benefits they need to make their careers and family lives work.

Instead, there is ‘growing sympathy for the old-fashioned view that a woman’s place is in the home rather than in the office’.

It added: ‘Opinions are shifting as the shine of the “supermum” syndrome wears off, and the idea of women juggling high-powered careers while also baking cookies and reading bedtime stories is increasingly seen to be unrealisable by ordinary mortals.’

Nicola Horlick, who combined a City career with raising a family of six in the 1990s, is often hailed as the archetypal supermum.

However her marriage crumbled and she divorced in 2003.

She later said: ‘Maybe the answer is you can’t necessarily have a happy marriage if you end up being a very high-powered woman.’

She has since remarried and runs an asset management firm.

The report, carried out by Cambridge University, will add to controversy over Labour’s push to persuade all mothers of young children to go out to work.

High-earning, high-flying women workers are leaving the workforce in droves because employers aren’t managing their family ambitions. Virginia Matthews reports.

If the so-called ‘brain drain’ was the major HR headache of the 1970s, then the current ‘baby drain’ is triggering a full-scale migraine. Despite more than three decades of official equality of opportunity for women, and hundreds of management pronouncements over flexibility, organisations throughout the country are proving unable to hang on to their highest-flying women once the nappy years kick in.

That’s the stark message emerging from Diversity Drives Variety in Corporate Culture, a six-month study of senior women returners by management researchers at Durler Consulting, in collaboration with employment law specialist Denton Wilde Sapte.

The research finds widespread dissatisfaction among women wishing to combine £100,000-plus salaries with the demands of motherhood.
